Grand Teton National Park offers one of America’s most spectacular mountain vistas. The rugged peaks of the Teton Range provide the backdrop to the valley with the meandering Snake River.

The Teton Range is comprised of the Grand, Middle and South Tetons. The neighboring peaks of Mount Moran, Mount Owen, and Teewinot also provide for spectacular views.

Grand Teton National Park was established in 1929 and encompasses almost 310,000 acres.

The park is located in the northwest corner of Wyoming north of the nearby town of Jackson

Grand Teton National Park also lies just south of world famous Yellowstone National Park.

World Class Fly Fishing in Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National ParkThe world renowned Snake River which is full pf wild trout winds its way around Grand Teton National Park.  Fly Fishing in Grand Teton National Park is an exciting experience. Both park lakes and streams offer excellent fly fishing opportunities. Cutthroat, brown, rainbow, and lake trout can all be caught in the park's rivers, streams, riffles and lakes. 

Fly fishing in Grand Teton National Park is not only a treat for the tired soul it is also a feast for the traveler’s eyes. The clear and cold Snake River winds through the Jackson Hole valley under the towering Grand Teton Mountains and there is not a more scenic place to fish with a fly. 

At the base of the Teton Range in Grand Teton National Park there are seven mountain lakes that support wild trout populations.  These jewel-like alpine lakes are Phelps, Bradley, Taggert, Jenny, String, Leigh and Jackson Lakes. Over 100 other alpine and backcountry lakes are also in the Teton Range.  Best bets are dry fly fishing with a bright orange stimulator fly or with a parachute Adams.  Don’t forget to try streamers in the large riffles as large and hungry trout are often landed in these areas.

Be Prepared For The Weather In Grand Teton National Park

The weather in the Tetons can change in a moments notice. Expect typical mountain and valley weather that can be sunny in the moring and thunder storms in the afternoon. Grand Teton National Park Wildlife

Grand Teton National Park’s iconic experience is viewing large elk and bison herds.   The migratory elk herd of Jackson Hole is world renowned.  The elk herd annually migrates form the high country of the Tetons and nearby Yellowstone to the lower reaches of Grand Teton National Park and the National Elk Refuge.  This elk herd spends the winter in the open grassland winter ranges.  Bison also can be viewed, often right along side of the elk herd.  Wolves are often spotted near this large herd of migratory elk.  If you are lucky you may also be available to spot a black or grizzly bear during your visit.  Both species of bear thrive in Grand Teton National Park.
